Wyoming is the 9th largest state in the Union, with almost 98,000 square miles and a population of only approximately 494,000 people. This means that huge pieces of Wyoming are unspoiled by civilization. Wyoming offers an incredibly beautiful mountain range, the Grand Tetons, and wide open spaces where you can see for miles. Truly the heart of the old west, Wyoming has something for everyone.
The Grand Teton mountain range in Wyoming is home to Jackson Hole, renowned worldwide for it’s resorts, skiing and winter sports. However, Jackson Hole is also a summer destination for hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, and kayaking. North of Jackson Hole is Jenny Lake, considered to be the focal point of the Grand Teton National Park, and the starting point for access to the major climbing routes into the tallest peaks of the Tetons. Approximately 30 minutes south of Jenny Lake is the south entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
Yellowstone is the nation’s first national park with over 2 million acres of land, including the Old Faithful Geyser Basin. Yellowstone is also home to native wildlife such as bison, bears, antelope, deer, moose, elk, and more. Devils Tower National Monument is also located in Wyoming, outside of Sundance. Devils Tower is our nation’s first national monument, declared by then President Teddy Roosevelt in 1906. Devils Tower was featured in the film, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and is a sacred location for the Native American population as well. From dude ranches, to rodeos, to hunting and skiing, Wyoming has something for everyone every season of the year.
